Who am I?

Attention: open in a new window. E-mail

I am in the process of reinventing myself as a photographer. I used to call myself, a" creator of beautiful images".... mostly of females.

I look back on a lot of the images I have created over the last 6 months, and some of them have beauty to them... But a theme that has developed is the story within the image.

When I look at the images I am the most proud of, they are images that do tell a story.... Maybe not a complex story, but more then just pretty girl standing on white seamless background.

So I have been thinking how to become more of a storyteller in my images.

The first thing that I then start to grapple with is storytelling vs documentary vs photojournalism.

Am I interested in photojournalism....usually the telling of sad or disturbing stories.... Not very interesting to me.

Documentary..... Using an image or series of images to document or explore a subject.....maybe.

Storytelling does not have to be a "real" story.... It can be an old story ( Cinderella) or it can be a new story ( street photography).

I tried explaining my ideas to a couple of interested people today, and failed miserably.  A sure sign that I either lack the vision or the passion of my idea.

Then my next question is, how do I make a living with images that tell stories?

Still working this out.

I still have many more questions then answers. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
