Exposure- The basics

One of the most challenging parts of capturing any image is the control of how much light is exposed to the CCD in the camera.

How to balance different camera settings to produce the desired results are the topic of this module.

Topics to be dealt with include:

• The correct exposure vs the right exposure
• The histogram and how to read it
• Middle gray and why it is so important
• Different exposure modes and when to use them

Bring your camera, your light meter (if you have one) and your manual !


Understanding exposure along with understanding focus can be where the art of photography starts to develop
